Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum
Baseball fans won't want to miss the Babe Ruth Museum. After first opening in 1974, the musem has grown to include the Archives of the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Colts. Rare artifacts, photos, videos audio highlights and trivia facts are scattered throughout the various exhibits at the museum. The featured exhibit is Babe Ruth, but visitors will also enjoy the Home Run Club exhibits and many others.

Baltimore Maritime Museum
The Baltimore Maritime Museum features a collection of National Historic Landmarks that have contributed significantly to America's maritime history. Included is the Coast Guard Cutter 'Taney', the WWII Submarine 'Torsk', the Lightship 'Chesapeake' and the Seven Foot Knoll Lighthouse. Each ship has a history with a story to tell.

Baltimore Museum of Art
Baltimore is home to Maryland's largest art museum, the Baltimore Museum of Art. Offering a permanent collection of over 85,000 pieces and constantly changing exhibits, the museum has a great variety of artworks with something for everyone to enjoy. Many special events, performances and educational programs are also offered by the museum.

National Museum of Civil War Medicine
The National Museum of Civil War Medicine is dedicating to studying and interpreting the medical history of the war, and in turn educating the public about these discoveries. The museum features exhibits that focus on medical artifacts, books, manuscripts and other items from the civil war, from the years 1861 through to 1865, including a replica of a medical officer's tent. Guided tours of the museum may be arranged.

African Art Museum of Maryland
Since its establishment in 1980, the African Art Museum of Maryland has dedicated itself to collecting and preserving African Art. The exhibits aim to create an understanding and awareness of African culture. A variety of events and activities are offered at the museum throughout the year.

American Visionary Art Museum
The American Visionary Art Museum is located in downtown Baltimore. Exhibiting works of art created by self-taught artists, the museum has a permanent collection of over 4,000 pieces, as well as many changing exhibits. The architecture of the building that houses the museum is a work of art in itself, and has won many awards.

B & O Railroad Museum
Celebrating over 175 years of railroad history, the B & O Railroad Museum features one of the oldest and most complete collections of railroad artifacts, models and artwork in America. Also part of the museum is the Hays T. Watkins Research Library, which offers an extensive collection of archives.

Maryland Science Center
The three-level Maryland Science Center features a collection of hands-on, educational exhibits that change each season. The Davis Planetarium and the Imax Theater can also be found within the Science Center. The Davis PLanetarium is a fifty-foot dome with a star projector and video technology that explore the mysteries of the sky. Shows and show times at the Imax Theater change frequently.

Jolly Roger Amusement Park
Maryland's biggest amusement park, the Jolly Roger Amusement Park, offers something for everyone. With a vast selection of rides, the park also has many games and two themed miniature golf courses. Also located on-site is Speedworld, which offers a variety of race tracks, and Splash Mountain Water Park with waterslides, pools and a lazy river.

Ocean City Pier Rides and Amusements
Ocean City Pier Rides and Amusements is located directly on the Ocean City Boardwalk, beside the Atlantic Ocean. The amusement park offers a great variety of things to do including rides, simulators, midway games and a fun house. There are many food and souvenir kiosks located along the pier.

Historic London Town and Gardens
This 23-acre park is situated on the South River. In addition to the expansive gardens, London Town is also home to the William Brown House which has been declared a National Historic Landmark house museum, and a pavilion that is used for a variety of occasions.

Assateague Island National Seashore
Wild horses roam this barrier island on Maryland's eastern shore. Assateague Island National Seashore stretches from just south of Ocean City, MD, to the Virginia-Maryland border.

The Baltimore Zoo
The Baltimore Zoo features over 2,000 birds, mammals and reptiles. Some of the exhibits include the African Watering Hole, Chimpanzee Forest and Leopard Lair. Baltimore's interactive Children's Zoo is among the best in the nation with a petting farm and hands-on fun for children of all ages. Many educational programs are offered at the zoo year-round.

Catoctin Mountain Park
Camping, fishing and hiking are a few of the activities at Catoctin Mountain Park. The park is also home to the Presidential retreat of Camp David, which is not open to the public.

Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo
The Catoctin Wildlife Preserve and Zoo is family owned and operated facility that has been open to the public since 1966. Filled with over 350 exotic animals, the park offers many oppportunities to feed, meet and touch these fascinating creatures. Some of the animals you may encounter are cougars, jaguars, hedgehogs, chinchillas and spiny lizards.

Fort Foote Park
Home to one of the region's best preserved Civil War forts, Fort Foote Park provides trails and presents historic artefacts, such as two Rodman guns.

Fort Washington Park
At Fort Washington Park, visitors can enjoy a picnic, fishing, hiking and biking trails, and wildlife watching. The old fort is still structurally sound, keeping watch over the Potomac River.

Glen Echo Park
Originially a National Chautauqua Assembly, Glen Echo Park offers festivals, dance, theatre and more. Also within the park is an antique, hand-painted, hand-carved Dentzel carousel that operates on a limited schedule between May and September.

Greenbelt Park
Miles of hiking trails, a campground, and picnic areas are located within Greenbelt Park. The park, a refuge for animals and plants, and escape from city life, is only 12 miles from Washington, DC.

National Aquarium in Baltimore
With so much to see and do, visitors won't know where to begin in this amazing seven-story building. Each level features a unique exhibit including North Atlantic Birds, a Tropical Forest and an Atlantic Coral Reef. Some of the featured underwater creatures that can be found in the aquarium are electric eel, Pacific octopus, stingrays, sharks, seals and dolphins. Dolphin shows and feeding times change daily. At the Children's Discovery Cove both adults and children can learn about and how to handle different animals such as horseshoe crabs and sea stars.

Piscataway Park
Piscataway Park, open daily during daylight hours, includes the National Colonial Farm, a picnic area and a dock. Available for a fee are interpretive farm tours. Other activities include fishing, bird watching and picnicking.

Antietam National Battlefield
A contributing factor in Lincoln's issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation, the Battle of Antietam marked the Confederacy's first invasion of the north in September of 1862. Established in as an historic site in 1890, the Antietam National Battlefield marks the site of this battle that killed or wounded over 23,000 men.

Antietam National Cemetery
Antietam National Cemetery houses the graves of 4,776 Union soldiers who died during the Battle of Antietam, Monocacy, South Mountain and other Maryland battles during the U.S. Civil War. At the battle of Antietam, over 23,000 men were killed or wounded.

Clara Barton National Historic Site
Clara Barton founded the American Red Cross. Her home in Glen Echo, MD, the warehouse and heaquarters for the American Red Cross, is preserved as the Clara Barton National Historic Site.

Fort Foote Park
Home to one of the region's best preserved Civil War forts, Fort Foote Park provides trails and presents historic artefacts, such as two Rodman guns.

Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine
Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine is the site of the 1814 Battle of Baltimore. It was at Fort McHenry that Francis Scott Key gained inspiration for the poem, The Star Spangled Banner, which was turned into the country's National Anthem in 1933.

Fort Washington Park
At Fort Washington Park, visitors can enjoy a picnic, fishing, hiking and biking trails, and wildlife watching. The old fort is still structurally sound, keeping watch over the Potomac River.

Hampton National Historic Site
On its completion in 1790, Hampton house was the largest home in the United States. The historic site includes the grounds, cemetery and mansion. Tours are offered between 9am and 4pm daily.

Historic Hammond-Harwood House Museum
The Hammond-Harwood House is an outstanding example of Colonial American Architecture. Built in 1774 as an urban villa for Matthias Hammond, planter, legislator and patriot. Designed by one of America's first architect's William Buckland and said to be "one of the finest medium sized houses of the world". The house contains the finest collection of 18th century decorative and fine arts in Maryland.

The Historical Society of Frederick County, Inc.
The Historical Society of Frederick County building was built in approximately 1820 and has had a varied past; between the years of 1880 and 1950 the building was an asylum for orphaned girls. Guests of the museum are lead through the county's past with photographs, artifacts, artworks and more. The Society building also hosts a library and many public public programs.

Monocacy National Battlefield
Site of the "Battle That Saved Washington," Monocacy National Battlefield provides visitors with the opportunity to view where the Confederacy last attempted to move north. A visitor center complete with an auto tour map, ranger-led programs, hiking and nature walks are all available within the park.

Oxon Cove Park & Oxon Hill Farm
Oxon Hill Farm presents a working farm that follows the model of early 20th century farms. Self-guided tours, seasonal displays and more can be found within the park. Group reservations can be booked for activities such as large tours, cow milking, wagon rides, and the chicken program.

Thomas Stone National Historic Site
Visible at Thomas Stone National Historic Site is a visitor center, a restored manor house and other, 19th-century buildings.
